Hello I’m Heather a documentary style wedding photographer based near Wisbech in Cambridgeshire. Thank you for stopping by to have a look at my work and to find out who I am.
I was lucky to grow up living in the heart of the Fenland countryside, big skies and wide open spaces led to hours of den building, bike riding and pond dipping! I still live in the Fens with my husband Andy and three cats Buster, Blu and Chewie.
I’ve been to some stunning countries and my interest in photography escalated whilst spending time in North and South Africa, Croatia, Denmark, Italy and here in our beautiful British Isles. Fine tuning the art of catching an expression, the desired light and the emotion as I wandered towns, cities and outlying villages in search of inspiration became a part of who I am.
I’ve haven’t always been a wedding photographer
In late 2013 after 20 years of working in finance, I was made redundant and took that opportunity to leap into the world of full time wedding photography. To now be in a profession that I love and enables me to stretch my creativity really makes me feel alive.
I had been an aspiring nature and landscape photographer when I came to realise how much I enjoy photographing people. It’s the moments that matter and I photograph from my heart. Don’t get me wrong, I still love to photograph our beautiful surroundings, but to give people that warm fuzzy feeling inside when they see their images is irreplaceable.
What I’m doing when I’m not photographing weddings
When I’m not working you’ll find me taking walks, watching motorsport and coffee drinking with my friends and family. I have to confess that there’s usually some wine drinking and cheese eating thrown in too!
We have a ten year old niece who loves to come for sleepovers and go on holiday with us, she is on the go all of the time and keeps us fit! I absolutely love spending time in my garden and growing plants from seed may have become a bit of an obsession!
After years of threatening it, I finally took up yoga in June last year and I drag the husband along to one class a week!
I have always been passionate about the outdoors and in July 2016 along with Andy and four good friends we climbed Mount Snowden, which for a girl from the flat lands is quite a feat!
I’ve had a husband for almost three years now, I know what it’s like to plan a wedding!
In May 2016 I married the man that built me a new desk for my office at a moments notice, shares responsibility for our three cats and keeps me in general good humour! I had spent years telling my couples ahead of their wedding day ‘it’ll be the best day of your life’, ‘it doesn’t matter if it rains’ and ‘it’ll all work out well on the day’ because all of those things really are true. The only difference is, I now know for sure what a fabulous, adrenalin filled wedding day you are going to have; it is truly awesome!
